Our Akadinda is inspired by a traditional xylophone originating in Africa and is perfect for outdoor musical play.
This enormous accessible instrument can accommodate up to four players and is ideal for bringing people together for impromptu performances.
Great fun to play with huge resilient notes made from hardwood (padauk) which gives a natural mellow, low tone, tuned to the pentatonic scale in C major A2-D5. Because it’s so large, it’s loud!
Traditionally the base of an Akadinda was made from banana stems. With a lack of banana stems available (!) our frame is made of a treated timber suitable to be installed into the ground or surface mounted.
The Akadinda is perfect for improvising and experimenting with music whilst being in the fresh air.
Made to order in 4-6 Weeks.
